Accommodations

Registered attendees of AERI 2012 will be staying at DeNeve Plaza, UCLA campus, located at 351 Charles Young Drive West, Los Angeles, CA 90024. (Southwest of the Drake track and field stadium and just north of the Tom Bradley International Center on Charles E Young Drive, south of De Neve Dr.  Look for a large construction project. See Map.) If you get lost, call DeNeve front desk at 310-825-5451.

Amenities/Housekeeping

DeNeve Plaza rooms features single or double occupancy rooms (two twin beds in each) with private baths.   Students may be paired up in double occupancy rooms. To inquire on who your roommate will be, or to request a specific roommate if you haven’t done so in your registration form, please email Ellen-Rae at aeri (at) gseis.ucla.edu.

All air-conditioned rooms are non-smoking, and include cable television, daily maid service, telephones, bathroom amenities. Guest information is also provided in each room.

Internet Access

The Internet can be accessed by connecting to the UCLA_WEB wireless network. Click on the Guest Access link, where you’ll set up your own user name and password. For more info, read:

Gym Access

Campus recreation facilities are available for conference attendees. The room key, provided at check-in, allows admission on an individual basis into all recreation facilities. The John Wooden Center and Sunset Canyon Recreation Center include swimming pools, weight rooms, tennis courts, racquetball courts, and handball courts.  Non-residential guests do not have access to recreation facilities.

Check In and Check Out

Visit the Travel page for information on how to get to DeNeve from the airport by taxi, Shuttle or Fly Away bus.

Some may be arriving on Saturday July 7, others on Sunday July 8.  Either way, check in begins at 4pm on both days.  The DeNeve Plaza Acacia Building Front Desk will be open 24 hours.   You will get your room key at the front desk.  Standard check out time will is 11:00 am.

Registration Table

In addition to getting a room key, you will need to register with the AERI 2012 local arrangement committee to receive your packet (Folder with Meal Tickets, Program, Maps, Reimbursement forms, Evaluation Forms).

An AERI 2012 Registration Table will be open on July 7 between 4-6pm, and July 8 between 9:30-10:30am in the DeNeve Front Desk/Foyer area.

During the week, registration/information tabling will be in front of DeNeve Plaza Room (plenary room) between 8:30-9:00am and 10:30-10:45 am. Also, in DeNeve Cafeteria between 1:00-1:30 pm.

Meals

Breakfast, lunches and some dinners will be provided for registered participants.  There are lots of cafes, restaurants and bars in the Westwood neighborhood, south of UCLA campus, to enjoy.

What to Bring

1) Comfortable shoes – walking will be involved; break out sessions may take place in other buildings. See Maps.

2) Loose, comfortable clothes & sweater/jacket – LA summer temperatures can reach up to a high of 80 degrees in the day and lows of 63 degrees in the night.
